What happens when a driven entrepreneur is suddenly forced to confront the ultimate test—not in the boardroom, but in his own body? In this powerful episode of FOMO Sapiens, Romain Kapadia—founder, investor, marathoner, and stage four cancer survivor—joins Patrick McGinnis to explore how resilience, mindset, and business acumen intersect in the face of life-altering adversity. Romain shares the unconventional tools he used to navigate both startup chaos and his diagnosis, including his non-negotiable morning routine, a radically different perspective on time, and why optimism can be a form of strategy. This conversation isn’t just inspiring—it’s a masterclass in how to meet life’s hardest moments with clarity, decisiveness, and strength.
Meet our guest:
As an only child turned 20+ year serial entrepreneur, Romain Kapadia has always thrived on forging his own path. From building businesses to navigating personal challenges, he embraces risk, resilience, and reinvention. His successes have fueled his growth, while his failures have sharpened his resolve.
In 2023, Romain faced his toughest battle yet, overcoming a Stage 3 cancer diagnosis and a debilitating 16-hour surgery that forced him to muster every ounce of determination to rehabilitate his body. Now facing several recurrences (Stage 4), he has chosen to fight with courage and optimism, sharing his journey publicly through his Instagram @247manifesto to inspire others facing life’s toughest challenges.
Romain’s entrepreneurial journey began in the early 2000s when he built a men’s luxury fashion brand from scratch into a globally recognized label worn by A-list celebrities, including Jared Leto, Ricky Martin, and David Bowie. Today, he balances life between NYC and Texas as the Managing Partner of Founder’s Capital, an NYC-based private equity independent sponsor platform, partnering and acquiring founder-led businesses across the U.S., and as Co-Founder & Managing Partner of a fast-growing events and entertainment company in the Southwest.
Despite his Stage 4 diagnosis, Romain remains determined to live a full life. On a personal level, he has run over a dozen international marathons, is an active angel investor, and volunteers with various nonprofits. As an amateur surfer, he is always searching for the best undiscovered surf towns, and as a global adventurer, he has traveled to over 70 countries, including all 7 continents.
